Version 2026.10.2

Release Type
Stable Feature & Fix Release
Summary
2026.10.2 is a large release built around the people side of device management. It leads with Check-In/Check-Out, a structured way to keep a close eye on specific students, and a rebuilt Restriction Plan that turns a single text box into real fields you can review every year and route to the right administrator. Your historical reporting gets steadier too: incidents now remember the grade and school a student was in at the time, so moving up a grade no longer rewrites last year's numbers. Around that, this release adds announcements and a live service status banner, gives device models their own custom fields and bulk import, lets you update existing devices from a spreadsheet, ties tickets and incidents together, and emails parents when a device goes out or comes back. A deep round of customer-reported fixes fills out the rest.
Highlights:
- Check-In and Check-Out for students. A dashboard of who is on a routine, daily non-return alerts, automatic placement on an outstanding balance, and an optional device lock.
- Restriction Plans you can actually manage. Structured fields, an annual review with reminders, and routing by grade level.
- Grade and school, frozen in time. Incidents remember the student's grade and school at the moment they happened.
- Announcements and a service status banner. Post your own notices, and surface a banner automatically when a connected service is down.
- Device models get custom fields, bulk import, and default bundles.
- Update existing devices from a spreadsheet. Change insurance, warranty, or custom fields by asset tag, nothing else required.
- Tie tickets and incidents together. Turn a broken-device ticket into an incident, and close the loop when the ticket is done.
- Tell parents when a device goes out or comes back.
New Features
Check-In and Check-Out for students
Check-In/Check-Out gives you a structured way to keep a close eye on a specific group of students and the devices they carry. A dedicated dashboard shows, at a glance, everyone currently on a Check-In/Check-Out routine. If a student still has a device out past your daily cutoff, staff get a daily non-return notification so nothing quietly slips. Students can be placed on the routine automatically once their outstanding balance crosses a threshold you set, and taken back off automatically when the balance clears. And when a device is not returned, a staff member can trigger a device lock through whichever MDM you use, so the step works the same no matter your provider.

Restriction Plans you can actually manage
The Restriction Plan on a student profile grows up from a single free-text box into real, reportable fields: a restriction type (including Check-In/Check-Out), who requested it, the reason, a status, and the date. A new Restriction Review report lists who has a restriction and lets you filter to the ones that still need attention, and each restriction can be marked reviewed for the current school year, so an old restriction that is no longer needed does not linger unnoticed.
To keep that review from being a manual chore, Manage1to1 can send an annual reminder to the right administrator listing the students whose restrictions are due for review. Because many schools split grade levels among different Deans or Assistant Principals, those reminders can be routed by the student's grade level, and you can include staff who need to see the information but do not manage it in the system.

Grade and school, frozen in time
Historical reporting now stays true to the past. Each incident remembers the grade and school the student was in at the moment it happened, and Quick Stats can group historical charts by that point-in-time grade and school. A student promoted to the next grade, or moved to a new building, no longer reshapes last year's totals; the numbers stay attached to where that student actually was when the incident occurred. Drill-downs stay fast at scale.

Announcements and a service status banner
You can now post your own announcements and alerts to the top of the Support Center, with control over how prominent each one is, who sees it, and the window it appears in. On top of that, a service status banner can appear on its own when a service your district depends on, such as Google or Microsoft, is reporting trouble, so your help desk is not flooded with reports of an outage that is not yours to fix. What is monitored and how it is surfaced is configurable, and nothing is shown unless you want it to be.

Device models get custom fields, bulk import, and default bundles
Device models become as flexible as the rest of your inventory. Define your own attributes on a model with custom fields, and import models in bulk from a spreadsheet, categories, core fields, and your model custom fields together, with a drag-and-drop upload. You can also set default accessory bundles per device type, so the accessories that always travel with a model are proposed for you instead of added by hand each time.

Update existing devices from a spreadsheet
Sometimes you just need to change one thing across a lot of devices, a new insurance status, a warranty date, a custom field, without touching everything else. A new Bulk Update Devices tool under System Utilities does exactly that: match on asset tag and include only the columns you want to change. There is no need to re-enter the model, building, or anything you are not updating. Map your columns, preview the changes before they apply, and the update runs in the background.

Tie tickets and incidents together
Tickets and incidents now work as one flow. When a ticket comes in for a broken device, you can turn it into an incident linked to that device and close the original ticket in a single step, so hardware problems land where your damage tracking and reporting live. Going the other way, closing a ticket can mark its linked incident complete and carry the repair notes across, so the record stays in sync without double entry.

Tell parents when a device goes out or comes back
You can now have Manage1to1 email a student's guardians automatically when their device is checked out and when it is checked back in. It is an opt-in setting, so you decide whether families get these updates.

Find a lost device and bring it back cleanly
A device marked lost is disabled to protect it. When it turns up, a new Mark Found action re-enables the device and clears the lost state in one click, instead of walking back each change by hand.

Move a batch of devices to a building
Select devices from the list and move them all to a building at once, rather than editing them one at a time.

Search now finds incidents
Global search covers incidents alongside everything it already looked through, so you can jump straight to an incident from the search bar.

Two new reports
Two reports join the library: one lists inactive students who still have a device assigned, so nothing is left in a departed student's hands, and one lists users who hold more than one device, so you can spot and reconcile duplicates.

A Loaner Stats dashboard widget
A new dashboard widget surfaces your loaner activity at a glance, so the state of your loaner pool is visible without opening a report.

Copy a knowledge base link to share
Technicians can copy the link to a knowledge base article straight from the article, to paste into a reply or hand to a user, instead of hunting down the address.

A home for import holds
When an import or roster sync cannot safely decide whether two people are the same, it holds the record for a human to decide. Those held decisions now have their own page, so they get actioned instead of being lost in the activity log.

API: bulk operations and custom fields
The REST API gains two things integrators asked for: bulk operations to set status, building, or assignment across many devices in one call, and the ability to read and write custom field values on your entities.

Improvements
- A cleaner ticket profile (MAN-1766). The ticket profile is redesigned to put the conversation first: supporting detail collapses out of the way until you want it, and a time timer runs right on the page so logging time takes no detour.
- Big imports run in the background (MAN-1846). Student, staff, guardian, and class imports now run as background jobs and email you when they start and when they finish, so a large upload no longer ties up a browser tab or times out.
- Only the buttons you can use (MAN-1856, MAN-1858). Across the admin area, action buttons now appear only when your role has the permission to use them, so you are not offered a control that would just be denied.
- One home for every automation rule (MAN-1871, MAN-1873). Every automation rule now opens in the unified Automations editor, with consistent department and building pickers; the separate Smart Rules list is retired.
- Faster admin pages (MAN-1844). The flagged-incidents indicator in the admin header no longer runs a flurry of per-item queries on every page, so admin pages across the app load quicker.
- Faster Quick Stats drill-downs (MAN-1837). The dashboard's month-range drill-downs use index-friendly date filters, so clicking into a chart stays fast as your history grows.
- Clearer activity log messages (MAN-1841). When a background task hits a problem, the activity log now shows a plain, readable note instead of raw internal error text.
Bug Fixes
- JAMF devices not syncing (MAN-1894). New devices on large JAMF fleets are discovered and imported reliably again, instead of being missed when a sync ran out of time before reaching them.
- Editing a device (MAN-1848). Opening a device to edit it loads the editor again instead of a page-not-found error.
- Adding or editing a device model (MAN-1870). The Add and Edit Device Model dialog opens and saves again rather than erroring.
- Names when checking out a cart (MAN-1864). The student list is populated again when you check out a cart, so you can pick who it goes to.
- Cart checkout from the list (MAN-1865). Checking out a cart from the View Carts list now uses the same flow as checking out from inside the cart, so the two behave the same.
- Adding insurance (MAN-1855). Adding an insurance policy to a user or device completes again instead of returning an error.
- Editing an incident's building (MAN-1843). You can change the building on an incident and have it save.
- Report link columns (MAN-1857). Report columns that contain a link render as a proper link again, rather than showing the raw markup.
- Automation Metrics links (MAN-1895). Selecting an automation from the Automation Metrics page opens it instead of a page-not-found error.
- Rules editor custom-field picker (MAN-1872). The unified rules editor again offers the scoped custom-field selector and keeps the condition's settings when you save.
- Held-for-review duplicates (MAN-1860). A record held for review that a later import duplicates no longer dead-ends; keeping the two separate works as expected.
- Late insurance payments after auto-cancel (MAN-1861). A payment that arrives after coverage was automatically cancelled is handled correctly, restoring coverage rather than being stranded or flagged as an overpayment.
- sFTP file transfers (MAN-1851). Scheduled sFTP transfers run again instead of erroring.
- Model import in dark mode (MAN-1869). Hovering a row in the model-import mapping table keeps the label readable in dark mode.
- Admin popup links (MAN-1845). Links opened from admin popups and modals go to the right place instead of occasionally doubling part of the address and landing on a page-not-found.
- Report drill-through to a device (MAN-1849). Clicking through from a report to a device profile opens the device instead of a page-not-found.
- Genesis duplicate fee lines (MAN-1850). For districts on the Genesis integration, voiding a fee no longer re-posts a duplicate zero-dollar line for older fees.
- Genesis cancelled-insurance fees (MAN-1847). A nightly reconcile now catches insurance premiums that were cancelled by an automated job, so the matching fee void is not missed.
