JAMF School

JAMF School enables Apple device data synchronization from your JAMF School environment. This integration is intended for districts that manage macOS and iOS devices through JAMF School and want richer device detail inside Manage1to1 without changing how inventory is managed.

JAMF School (formerly Zuludesk) is designed specifically for education environments and offers a streamlined approach to Apple device management for K-12 schools.

Before You Start

To configure JAMF School integration, you will need:

  • Administrator access to your JAMF School account
  • Your JAMF School network ID
  • An API token generated from JAMF School
info

Districts should generate a dedicated API token for the Manage1to1 integration. This allows the token to be revoked independently if needed without affecting other integrations.

Step 1: Find Your Network ID

Your JAMF School Network ID identifies your school or district within JAMF School.

  1. Log in to your JAMF School account at https://school.jamfcloud.com
  2. Navigate to Organization > Settings > Network
  3. Locate your Network ID (a numeric identifier)
  4. Note this value for use in Manage1to1

Step 2: Generate an API Token

JAMF School uses API tokens for external integrations.

  1. In JAMF School, navigate to Organization > Settings > API
  2. Select Add API Key or Generate Token
  3. Give the token a descriptive name (e.g., "Manage1to1 Integration")
  4. Ensure the token has Read access to devices
  5. Copy the generated API token immediately
warning

The API token is only displayed once when created. Copy it to a secure location before closing the dialog. If lost, you will need to generate a new token.

Step 3: Activate JAMF School in Manage1to1

Navigate to System Settings > MDM Settings in Manage1to1.

Locate the JAMF School tile and select Activate.

Step 4: Configure the Connection

After activating, you will be prompted to enter your JAMF School connection details:

  1. Network ID - Enter your JAMF School Network ID from Step 1
  2. API Token - Enter the API token generated in Step 2
  3. Select Test Configuration to verify the connection
  4. Save the configuration

If the test succeeds, Manage1to1 can communicate with your JAMF School environment.

Step 5: Sync Device Data

After configuration, you can run an immediate sync to pull device data.

A sync updates JAMF School device fields for devices that already exist in Manage1to1. This includes only devices that Manage1to1 can match to your inventory by serial number.

important

Manage1to1 syncs JAMF School device data only for devices that already exist in Manage1to1.

A Mac or iOS device that exists only in JAMF School will not be pulled into Manage1to1 automatically. It must exist in Manage1to1 before syncing.

What Data Syncs

When devices are matched, Manage1to1 pulls available device details from JAMF School, which may include:

  • Operating system version
  • Storage capacity and available space
  • Last check-in date
  • Device model and name
  • Battery level (where available)
  • Enrollment status

This data appears on the device profile in Manage1to1 and is used to power MDM Statistics and Reports.

Matching Behavior

JAMF School sync matches devices by serial number. For a device to sync:

  1. The device must exist in Manage1to1
  2. The serial number in Manage1to1 must exactly match the serial number in JAMF School

If a device does not match, Manage1to1 skips it rather than creating a new record. This protects districts from inventory drift caused by old or retired devices still present in JAMF School.

Common Troubleshooting

Connection test fails

  • Verify the Network ID is correct (numeric value from JAMF School settings)
  • Confirm the API token was copied correctly and completely
  • Check that the API token has not been revoked or expired in JAMF School

Devices are not syncing

  • Verify the device exists in Manage1to1 with the correct serial number
  • Confirm the serial number in Manage1to1 exactly matches JAMF School
  • Check that the device is enrolled and visible in JAMF School

API token stops working

  • API tokens may expire based on your JAMF School configuration
  • Generate a new token in JAMF School and update the configuration in Manage1to1
  • Check JAMF School audit logs for any token revocation events

Some device data is missing

  • Not all fields are available for every device type
  • iOS devices may have different available fields than macOS devices
  • Shared iPad devices may have limited user-specific data
  • Recently enrolled devices may not have all data populated yet
