Update Device Locations

Update Device Locations is used to align device location fields based on where devices are currently checked out.

What this utility does

This utility updates device location assignments for devices currently checked out to a user, typically to match that user’s location.

When to use it

Use this utility when:

  • User location assignments have changed (building transfers, schedule changes, district updates)
  • You need device location reporting to align with current assignments

Options

Include devices that do not currently have a building assignment

Enable this option if you want the utility to also evaluate checked out devices that currently have no building value assigned.

How to run it

  1. Navigate to Settings → System Utilities
  2. Locate Update Device Locations
  3. Select the optional checkbox if needed
  4. Click Process Location Update
  5. Review results and validate a sample set of devices

Verification steps

After running the utility, validate:

  • A sample set of checked out devices show the expected building location
  • Reports filtered by building reflect expected device counts
